What is Health?

Sep 18, 2023 | Health

Have you noticed? Everyone’s on pills. Now let’s just assume, for a minute, that all doctors have their patients’ best interests at heart, and every pill is actually needed.

Well then, in that case… what a f’ed society.

Taking away the benefit of the doubt and assuming that half of the doctors do have patients’ best interests at heart, that still leaves (my guestimate) half the population on some type of necessary medication.

My mom’s heart doctor said, “before we try drugs, you can try a lifestyle change.” I asked my mom if she knows how rare and special her doctor is.

Back to the facts. Pills. Triple bypass surgery. Heart attacks. Diabetes. Childhood obesity. Extreme fatigue. Hormone imbalances. Thyroid issues. Gout. GERD. Organ failure. Etc.

Is this all just a consequence of nothing? Or has our food industry totally fucked us?

To me, health isn’t the perfect body or having all systems in the body working optimally, because that’s nearly impossible in western civilization due to all the toxins on our clothes, in our body products, food, water, air, EMFS… again, etc.

Let’s just talk food… for now. Health, to me, is being on a path that sustains your body, energizes your body, and keeps your body away from disease as best it can in our toxic world.

Health (again, to me) is the embodiment of caring for yourself.

With my version of health, everyone starts small, as did I. My health started with stopping consuming Pop-Tarts and Doritos every night at midnight. Munchies had a lot to do with that at most times, but I still could have munched on shit that wasn’t loaded with poison.

I’d look in the mirror the day after a Pop-Tart binge and notice how swollen my face was. I knew that my outer appearance was nowhere as terrible looking as whatever was going on inside and that I had to stop.

I’ve suffered horrible cramps and a near-death experience induced by a ruptured dermoid ovarian cyst. I also had kidney stones for a few years until I stopped consuming nuts, chocolate, raw spinach, and wine every day.

Health to me now is having a diet free of gluten (aka glyphosate here in the States), which has totally eliminated the menstrual cramps that used to make my body pass out with sweat and (literally) blinding pain if I didn’t get to the Ibuprophen bottle in time.

Health to me is eating less shit and more whole foods. I love the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time I stay organic and natural, the other 20% of the time is whatever I feel like.

Welcome to my health blog. I’ll be focusing on how to build healthy habits taken in small steps so that you can *actually* apply this information to your life as soon as you want.

I’ll talk about ingredients and toxins as well. Like… did you know there’s many names for High Fructose Corn Syrup? I feel another post coming on about the dangers of one of the most stealthily added chemicals in our grocery stores.

I’ll also talk about healthy relationships, healthy mindset, and probably motherhood because that rollercoaster is best shared with the world.

Welcome to Krystal Land. I hope you find something here to help you in some way.
